The basics
Choose light, loose clothing that covers your shoulders and knees. Cotton and linen breathe well in the heat. Sand gets everywhere, so avoid anything delicate.
Shoes
Closed shoes or trainers are best for dunes and camps. Sandals are fine, but sand will get in. Bring socks if the evening is cool.
Sun and sand
Pack sunglasses, a hat or scarf, sunscreen and a bottle of water. A light scarf or shemagh protects your face if the wind blows sand.
Cooler months
In winter, evenings in the desert can be cool. A light jacket or sweater will make the evening more comfortable.
- Sunglasses and sunscreen
- Hat or scarf
- Light jacket in winter
- Phone case and a dry bag for sand
