The building

Designed by the architect I.M. Pei, the museum sits on its own island just off the Corniche. Its geometric forms and the central atrium are as impressive as the exhibits.

The collection

Galleries display manuscripts, ceramics, metalwork, textiles and scientific instruments from across the Islamic world and many centuries.

Plan your visit

Allow at least two hours. Do not forget to stroll through MIA Park, a green space with skyline views, and to take photographs from the waterfront.

  • Check current opening days
  • Photography rules vary by gallery
  • Café with harbour views

Combine it

Pair the museum with a Corniche walk, Souq Waqif or a sunset dhow cruise for a full day.
